Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 18: In another incident of deep rooted corruption within the RDD in Kishtwar District, the Technical Assistant and the concerned Block Development Officer in remote Marwah Sub Division had an open fight over the sharing of illicit money which runs into several lakhs of rupees as majority of the said amount has been withdrawn against non existent works .
As per the details available with Early Times, the Technical Assistant appointed through the backdoor had a fight with the BDO over sharing of booty. The sources told the Early Times that both BDO and Technical Assistant threaten to expose each other, but with the intervention of some middlemen-- the issue was swept under the carpet.
If sources are to be believed, the Technical Assistant had collected Rs. 49 lakhs as Commission which itself reflected that the concerned BDO had earned in Crores as the three blocks of Marwah Sub Division had MGNREGA budget worth nearly 30 Crores per annum.
The locals informed Early Times that BDO withdrew Rs. 20 lakhs of 14th FC plan fraudulently without preparing any labor sheets while at the same time kept VLWs and JEs in dark, who refused to take the responsibility after the matter came into public domain.
The sources also added that the BDO concerned also withdrew the amount meant for clearing the salaries of permanent employees of the RDD posted in the Block which according to the sources is a major breach of rules.
The locals said that the BDO during his posting in Marwah block withdrew carriage charges in lacs, but he did not paid the same to the mule owners, transporters who are waiting for the same since last two years.
They said that they even brought the matter into the notice of ACD Kishtwar time and again, but the officer too failed to address the issue.
They said that the BDO never attended his office and as and when they visited his home, he (BDO) went into hiding.
They urged upon the Governor Administration to look into the matter by ordering a special probe into various frauds that too place in Marwah Sub Division so that the corrupt officials could be booked for swindling the huge money of poor people.
