1/22/2019 10:45:53 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 22: The inhabitants of Turtuk, Ladakh held a press conference today demanding long pending issues of area including Turtuk Youl, Turtuk Farol, Tyakshi Groung, Tyakshi Pachathang, Thang, Chulunkha, Bogdang and Changmar
One of the inhabitant said that Turtuk area is a cluster of villages reincarnated to India from Pak domination during Indo-Pak war of 1971. Since then it became an integral part of J&K and inalienable part of the country.
He added that the area is situated at the proximity of LOC and whenever there prevails any abnormal situation or in the event of a conflict with Pakistan, every time we are the worst sufferers and have to bear the brunt of such situations. The socio economic condition of the people is marginalized during these 47 years of reincarnation no satisfactory development has been made.
Ghulam Hussain said "People of Turtuk block requests a Degree College in the adjacent area. In the recent made decision by the higher authorities regarding of 28 new degree colleges in J&K. Turtuk has been found excluded in the list of new Degree colleges approved".
He added that in this regard, People of Turtuk area are deeply disappointed for excluding Turtuk Block among the locations approved for new degree colleges in the State as due to poor economic background and distance involved, many students drop out at Higher Secondary level and do not pursue further studies as they cannot afford rented accommodation for stay at far off colleges. It is more pronounced among girl students, as parents are reluctant to send their daughters to far off places for safety reasons.
Further we demand inclusion of Villages Turtuk region which falls less than 10km distance from line of control of Tehsil Nubra District Leh under the areas adjoining the Line of control under Jammu& Kashmir reservation rules 2005, Ghulam Hussain said
He added that people of Turtuk village seek opening of Turtuk -Khapulu road across Border, construction of Turtuk Hanu road and AUotment of a legislator seat in J&K assembly (MLA) to the Balti community of Turtuk area reincarnated during Indo-Pak war of 1971. Also Tehsil status to Turtuk area.
