| PMGSY dept accused of using sub standard material | | Suran Mendhar road faces official apathy | | MS Nazki

Poonch, Jan 22: People living along Suran Mendhar road have expressed their resentment against PMGSY department for its casual approach in construction of 9 km long road and use of sub strandard material.
Sources said the road project was sanctioned way back in 2013-2014 at a cost of Rs 23 crore to PMGSY department sub division Mendhar and the construction work of the road was started in 2016-2017 from Jaranwali Goli , they added. After some time the work was stopped abruptly for unknown reasons, they added.
They said now the work has been started again on this old road but the executing agency i.e PMGSY department with an unholy nexus of contractors and concerned JEs and AEE have been indulged in mal practices and use sub standard material on the construction of the road.
Locals told Early Times that the concerned contractor was using local sand and cement and zero grade concrete. They said the inspecting team is misled.
Locals also alleged that some times work is being carried out during night hours though the locals have been fully cooperating.
DC Poonch, Rahul Yadav told Early Times that he will look into the matter and imitate necessary action against the erring people if found indulged in corrupt practices. |
