69 year old nacro smuggler arrested with intoxicants

Ramban, Feb 3: In continuation to drive against drug peddlers launched by SSP Ramban-Anita Sharma, Ramban police today claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered intoxicants along with Rs Rs 2,16,400 from his possession.
Police spokesman said that during surprise naka at Harog on Gool road, during checking and frisking, one elderly person carrying a bag on seeing the naka party started fleeing from the spot to avoid checking but the alert cops apprehended him after a brief chase.
"On thorough search of the suspected person, police recovered 110 intoxicated injections (Tramadol) and cash Rs 2,16,400 (2 lakh sixteen thousand and four hundred only) from the bag which he was carrying", said spokesman adding that suspected person disclosed his identity as Mohd Yousuf of Neel,Chadoos.
Spokesman further said that on questioning suspected person revealed that he offently sells these intoxicated injections among the youth on exorbitant rates.
In this regard a case under FIR NO 06/19 under section 8/21/22 of NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Dharamkund police station and investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source and other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
Meanwhile a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB13AQ-6802 which was on its way from Kashmir got intercepted by police and the truck found loaded with apple boxes and on its thorough search recovered poppy straw like substance weighing about 05 kgs packed in a gunny bag from cabin of the truck.
Police said that suspected person namely Rajesh Kumar of Mehmudpor, Punjab has taken into custody.
In this regard a case under FIR no 25/19 under section 8/15 of NDPS Act has been registered at Ramban police station.
