| Procurement of fabricated lavatories in Doda | | RDD fails to furnish details under RTI | |

Doda, Feb 24: The Rural Development Department (RDD) Doda and the Directorate of RDD Jammu have failed to reveal of procurement made vis a vis fabricated lavatories in Doda district under RTI even as State Information Commission (SIC) had directed Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Doda to provide the details under RTI.
This information was earlier denied under RTI which forced information seeker to file an appeal before
SIC.
An RTI application was filed one Haq Nawaz Nehru R/O Doda on 13.03.2018 before PIO/ACD Doda seeking information with regard to procurement of fabricated lavatories and other related information. As PIO failed to provide the requisite information within the stipulated time period, the appellant filed subsequent appeals.
The appeal came up for hearing before State Information Commission (SIC) on 23.10.2018. Director RDD Jammu / FAA Rehana Batul, KAS, attended the hearing through Video Conferen-cing from Jammu office of the Commission.
The Commission (SIC) was informed that ACD Doda had never procured the fabricated Latrines, nor called for tenders for the same.
SIC in its order had directed the PIO/AC (D), Doda to provide details to information seeker. Sources say that some information has been provided to information seeker , but the same is not being made public through official website of Director Rural Development Jammu or DC Doda as mandated under section 4 of JK RTI Act 2009. |
