| MC, DC Udhampur lock horns over demolition drive | | |

Udhampur, Feb 24: In a development reflecting serious breach of protocol, he MC Udhampur has issued a written order telling the deputy commissioner not to undertake demolition drives in future.
The DC had ordered demolition of some illegal structures at Salathia , Udhampur which was resented by the elected Municipal Council President and other councilors.
The MC issued a written order telling the DC to desist from such a drive in future without the permission of MC President.
The public, however, have taken strong exception to the MC interference. According to them, some shopkeepers have grabbed government land causing inconvenience to the general public.
The locals said that MC President is brother of former MLA who joined BJP few day ago and the order to instruct the DC was only to help the former MLA achieve good will of the encroachers as it will go a long way to help in coming assembly elections. |
