Panic in border areas but Governor's administration still in deep slumber
2/27/2019 12:00:20 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 26: Even as panic gripped residents of border areas of Jammu province after the Indian Air Force carried out air strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), Governor's administration has, so far, failed to clear prevailing confusion among the people living on International Border (IB) and LoC.
Instead of establishing contact with the border residents, Governor's administration is further creating confusion by giving irrelevant statements. Fearing that desperate Pakistan would retaliate after this morning's action there is palpable fear among border people but Governor administration has failed to immediate depute officers in the border areas to give assurances to the people.
Due to prevailing chaos and anarchy in the administration, most of the officers are giving directions while sitting in safety zones. Border people are concerned about safety of their family members in case of any retaliation from Pakistani side but local authorities are adopting casual approach.
After action of the Indian Air Force, Pakistani Army has started heavy shelling in the forward Border Outposts on the LoC in Poonch district.
Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement by firing unprovoked in Poonch sector along the LoC. Official sources said "Pakistan heavily fired small arms and mortars early morning and violated the ceasefire." The Air Bases in Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri have been put on high alert while all ranked officers have been told to remain on alert.
