Govt Polytechnic college organizes awareness programme

Jammu, Mar 29: A one-day awareness programme and poster making competition under SVEEP (Systematic Voter's education and Electoral Participation) was organized by Govt Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu in collaboration with Nodal Officers of SVEEP. Aejaz Qaiser, ACD Jammu and D.S. Manhas, Deputy CEO Jammu Nodal officer's SVEEP were the resource persons. Er. Arun Bangotra Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu while speaking on the occasion articulated that it is need of the hour and responsibility of all the educational institute to sensitize the masses about importance of participation in a democracy which will further ensure a responsive and accountable elected Government. Aejaz Qaiser, ACD Jammu, Nodal Officers SVEEP briefed the gathering on how, when and why they should vote and made all the students, staff members and others present on the occasion aware of their voting rights and how to exercise universal adult franchise.
D.S. Manhas, Deputy CEO Jammu Nodal Officer's SVEEP congratulated the college for organizing this valuable program and educate the students and staff about their rights as voter and all should exercise that right with knowledge and responsibility.
On the occasion, Government Polytechnic Jammu also organized a poster making competition on the theme "My Vote My Right" in which 24 students of the college participated. The first prize was bagged by Shivam, a student of 6th Semester Civil Engineering. The second and third prize was won by Anjali and Swati students of Basholi Painting and Civil Engineering department. The proceedings of the program were carried out by Er. Jasdeep Kour Lecturer of the institute.
All the arrangements for smooth conduct of function were made by Ar. Ritika Wadhera , Er. Sanam Gupta, Rajesh Khajuria.
