Three teachers for 300 students in HSS Nagbatna

Kishtwar, Apr 6: Government Higher Secondary School Nagbatna in Kishtwar District has only three teachers for 300 students. The HSS Nagbatna is situated in one of the most difficult terrains of the state and it takes 8-10 hour journey on foot from nearest road Hasti area on Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway as there is no road connectivity in the area.
Speaking to "Early Times Suhail Ahmed Wani, a student of the school said that there are 300 students in the school and only three teachers are available for them to teach which majority of the teachers posted against the sanctioned posts for the school are enjoying attachments in a school near the road side or in Kishtwar town.
He said the students will opt for agitation if the teachers are not made available immediately.
The local Sarpanch Arif Hussain said that HSS Nagbatna is not the only case where this type of situation prevails adding that being a remote area of the state, no government officials including DC visits the area.
He said that there is no staff in other schools as well beside no medicines are available at local PHCs, snganwari centers remains mostly locked throughout the year.
Sarpanch Arif Hussain said that they visited various government offices from time to time including that of DC Kishtwar and CEO Kishtwar who only give assurances, but did nothing.
He said that they are being forced to agitate and called upon Governor Satya Pal Malik.
The locals said that a lady teacher vide order No. ZEO/D/2018/2083-88 Dated 1-08-2018 has been attached from Middle School Hangh to High School Drabshala on verbal directions of CEO Kishtwar for the last year academic session, but till date she hasn't resumed her duties despite cancellations of all attachments by the government and even General Administrative Department (GAD) has issued directions for detachment of all attached employees to original place of postings.
