Encounter on in Pulwama, 3 terrorists trapped

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between a joint team of security forces and terrorists in South Kashmir’s Midura Tral on Sunday morning.

Till reports last came in, the encounter was on

Sources said that at least three terrorists are trapped in the area cordoned off ny the security forces.

After receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Kahilil forests of Tral, the security forces with Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel launched a search operation in the area.

“As the security forces tightened the cordon, the hiding terrorists started firing which triggered the ongoing gunfight,” said a police official.

The police official said that more reinforcement have been called in with internet service snapped in the area as a precautionary measure.

Tillreports last came in, the encounter was on.

It may be recalled that on Saturday three terrorists were neutralised following an intense gunfight with the security forces in Keller area of Shopian district in the state. The encounter was carried out by a joint search party of the CRPF, Army and the state Police.

“The terrorists killed in the encounter in Shopian district have been identified as Sajad Khanday, Aqib Ahmad Dar and Basharat Ahmad Mir, all residents of Pulwama. It was a combined group of terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen and LeT,” a statement released by the Jammu and Kashmir Police over the Shopian encounter read.
