Punjab: Engineering student comes up with high-speed electric car
4/7/2019 8:48:54 PM

PATIALA: A student of Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology (SVIET), Rajpura has built a high-speed electric car named ‘SVIET Volta’. The car can run 70km on charging it for four hours at a speed of 110kmph.
Mohammad Jawaad, 22, who hails from Jammu, is a final year student in the institute. He said that it took him more than a year to complete the project.

He said that the next level of the research will be about making it a self-driving car.

“We had put our efforts to provide a low-cost electric car for a small family. This may prove as a boon for the environment as it is the most eco-friendly car. The car has a self-charging capacity and colar charging facility too. However, the patent filing for this car is also under process”, Jawaad claimed.

Ashok Garg, president of Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes, said that talks with the worldwide Automotive giants are underway for commercial production of the car. He said that the prototype has been successfully developed and tested. Along with a major global investor, SVIET will also partner in the commercialisation of this car.
