Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 11: Strict Curfew remained imposed in Kishtwar District on third consecutive day following the massive clashes between the security forces and people outside the Kishtwar cremation ground at Chowghan the previous day. Several security personals were injured and angry people ransacked the SSP Office complex as well as Police Post Kuleed over the failure of the police and administration in safeguarding the lives of the nationalist people like RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma who was killed by the militants in broad day light along with his PSO on Tuesday last.
As per the details available with ET, strict curfew has been imposed by the Kishtwar administration in the areas dominated by the minority Hindu community including Kuleed, Wasser, Sarkoot, Hatta, Begana, Old Kishtwar town, Gudhali Chowk, Malik Market, Zeelna, Panditgam as angry people are demanding immediate transfer of DC Kishtwar and have warned the government that if DC Kishtwar was not transferred, they will resume the protests. They also called for immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of local RSS leader and his PSO.
The army along with Police and CRPF today launched a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Kishtwar town, but success continued to elude them simmering public and political anger against the security establishment.
Meanwhile the sources informed ET that high level administrative committee comprising Senior Officials of Police along with Divisional Administration will review the security situation in Kishtwar and take a call on relaxation in Curfew for two hours in phased manner after Firday prayers.
