Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 11: The cowardice act of killing of a BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar, his brother Ajeet Parihar, Top rank RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, his PSO Rajinder Kumar, snatching of weapon from PSO of DC Kishtwar has raised several unanswered question on the safety and security of the common people in Kishtwar District as everyone in the District wants to know that what the government of India and State government has achieved in spending Crores of rupees on luxurious life of certain high rank officials including politicians while it cannot spent few Lacs or a crore on the installation of the CCTV cameras in various areas of not only in communally sensitive Kishtwar District, but in other Districts of the state as well so that the killers of innocent people like Anil Parihar, his brother Ajeet Parihar, RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, his PSO Rajinder Kumar in a span of five months in Kishtwar District could be traced and punished.
Early Times also highlighted the issue various times as the same is in the interest of the common people and only three weeks ago also raise the issue with newly posted SSP Kishtwar Shakti Pathak during a media-Police meeting at his office complex.
As per the details available with Early Times, the unsolved killings of Anil Parihar, his brother Ajeet Parihar on November 1, 2018 followed by killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma in broad day light on April 9, 2019 that too inside District Hospital Kishtwar has open the Pandora box and fingers were point out at Police Headquarter itself as the PHQ who has assigned the job to do the installation of CCTV cameras in Kishtwar and other parts of the state eight years ago comes under the scanner of prevailing corruption at highest level.
The lackadaisical approach of PHQ could be judged from the fact that even after eight years since the previous NC-Congress government announced the installation of CCTV cameras in communally sensitive mountainous District of Kishtwar District, the prestigious project of installation of 18 CCTV cameras at vital places in Kishtwar District including bus stand, outside major educational institution hits the stumbling blockade due to official apathy as the file pertaining to the installation of these CCTV cameras got stuck between the offices of police, administration and between the contractors and the PHQ.
Even though a police team led by former Additional SP Kishtwar Kulbir Singh along with former Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Farooq Qasar inspects various sensitive spots in Kishtwar town where the police feels fit to install these CCTV cameras and on their recommendations, the contractors even installed the towers at many places in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas, but the same has yet to start even after the eight years since these police officials makes round of Kishtwar town to select these spots. These towers were installed at Bus stand Kishtwar, at ever busy Shaheedi Chowk Kishtwar, Hidyal Chowk, outside shrine of suffi saints at Kishtwar, Guldahli Chowk, Hospital Chowk, outside police station Kishtwar and other public importance places to keep check on nefarious elements who wants to disturb the peace and communal harmony. The aim and object of installation of CCTV cameras is not only to check militancy related activities, but also to keep check on eve teasing, thefts and also traffic violations, but despite everything in place, the projects is yet to be implemented on ground.
In addition people also demanded installation of CCTV cameras at vulnerable places like hotels, shopping malls, schools, tuition centers, police station was also demanded and was requested to ensure that same to be installed at an earliest possible time, but again nothing was done and the assurances given by the senior police officers remains as hollow promises.
The people urged upon the governors administration to look into issue and ensure that CCTV cameras will be installed in Kishtwar District without any fail.
