Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 24: Violating its own norms envisaged in books of law, the Jammu and Kashmir Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (JKEPFO) has denied wages and Provident fund to employees who were engaged for digitalisation of records.
Well placed sources informed that the organisation had started digitalisation of records in the month of August, 2018 and in this regard a Lucknow based firm, Marg Software Solution Pvt Limited has been hired to make digital records. The same firm hired nearly two dozen local youth for completion of assignment but ironically, all of them were not availing the benefits of PF scheme, despite the organisation (JKEPFO) meant for protecting labour's interest. Sources further said that out of two dozen, nearly 12 were engaged in Jammu office, five at Samba district and 3 were at Udhampur but all of them are not getting the wages on time. "Some of them have more than three month pending salary and remaining two month pendency", alleged sources. The callousness on part of JKEPFO can be gauged from the fact that its norms narrate that every organisation/establishment having engaged more than 10 employees, should be covered under PF scheme from very first day, but under the nose of the law enforcement organisation (JKEPFO), the hired organisation for digitalisation of record isn't covering its contractual employees under the above said schemes and law enforcement agency seems least bothered about it. Earlier, the same organisation (JKEPFO) engaged more than 10 employees on contractual basis for maintenance of PF record, and when they were demanded for PF schemes, all of them were retrenched from the services, said an employee and adding that if an organisation which is meant for only protection of labour's interest can retrench its employees for demanding PF schemes and other benefits and then how can they protect other interest?
