Cross-LOC trade may be revived shortly
4/26/2019 10:50:05 PM
The union Home Ministry is awaiting for the fortune time to unseal the Cross-LoC trade. Even those traders who are connected with Cross-LoC trade have demanded revival of the cross LoC trade because if Pakistan trucks carry some weapons, narcotics and money is the sign of inability of the security forces that keep check on the cross LoC trade. At least 10 militants, who had crossed over to Pakistan, set up businesses across the border with the active aid of ISI and were involved in the recently suspended cross LoC trade to provide funds to terrorists and separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. Not only this these militants were capable of providing weapons to the militants that are related to the incidents of violence in Kashmir with better system and supervision the Cross-LoC trade may be revived allowing traders connected with the trade to secure the benefit of the barter system
Each truck coming from Pakistan may be frisked to get control of the weapons, narcotics and currency notes which were being used as hawala money used by separatists and militants. Through probe has revealed that since 2008, when the cross-LoC trade, was inaugurated militants deployed in Kashmir were never bothered by pinch of weapon shortage. This is the reason that during clashes between civilians and security forces, that surfaced during the burial of slain militants, or during the encounters between the militants and the security forces, militants used number of new weapons to terrorise the forces.
And when the Cross-LoC trade is reopened, possibilities are that after the Assembly election, the trade routes may reopen in Jammu an d Kashmir. And as far as people to people contact was meant to facilitate estranged families to meet and discuss their problems but the people to people contact has died because not many number of buses cross the border indicating that people, who were estranged by partition were stopped accepting this gift. Neither people from Jammu and Kashmir visited in large numbers to Pakistan occupied Kashmir nor people from Muzaffarabad visited J&K in great numbers. It seems people to people contact ended within three to four months despite the fact that it was inaugurated in 2005. For first one year people showed a lot of interest but that interest failed because nothing new they could see on either side of the LoC. Lot of security grtid could be upgraded in Salamabad and in Poonch where the trucks, connected with cross-LoC trade may be frisked and any amount of narcotics, weapons and currency notes were seized the drivers and the conductors of those trucks would be punished and jailed.
