BANDIPORA, Apr 29: Scores of residential areas of Sumbal and Hajin areas are up in arms against the R&B Department as they have failed to repair some important roads due to which the school going children and working employees are suffering a lot.

The department of R&B has failed to construct and repair the roads that were approved last year by the government, every year state government sanctions Crores of rupees for the repair of roads and buildings but on ground nothing concrete has been done till date, said Mushtaq Ahmad of Hajin Markandul.

He said that the department concerned is responsible for repair of roads and construction bridges. No road has been repaired during past six years.” It seems that department had withdrawn Crores on the pretext of repairing roads, either main or link roads.

By non serious approach, the department, the locals are suffering many health issues on daily basis, such as chest infection, backache and other ailments, where as the contractors are just busy in withdrawing fake bills, locals told early times.

Most of the inner link roads like of Shahgund, Hajin, Goshbough, Naidkhai, and other adjoin areas are in bad conditions, neither they are motorable nor one can walk barefooted, as such is the bad condition of roads.

Similarly the road connecting Baniyari, and upper areas of Banidpora town are also in a bad shape, many times in past we requested we made representation before the authorities, but all went into vain, locals informed.

The construction work on various small and big bridges is at snail’s pace, even though we were promised by the former legislators that roads will be constructed and repaired in time bound manner, but all promises proved hollow so for.

Nazir Ahmad of Banayari said that the authorities have maintained complete silence over the delay in repairing work, month of April is about to finish now, and the department can is deliberately delaying the work on some vital roads, as there are some political differences, between some officials and political leaders, locals alleged.

They said that we have suffered like anything, and for all this non seriousness of work, the department should understand the problems of the rural masses, otherwise we have no option except to hit the streets.
