| After be-fooling people for five years, BJP again promises UT status for Ladakh | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 30: After befooling people of Ladakh for five long years, BJP is once again trying to woo voters of Ladakh by supporting the long pending demand of granting Union Territory (UT) to Ladakh.
During the last five year, since 2014 to 2019, BJP leaders of J&K have shamelessly put this demand in the dustbin to keep Mehbooba Mufti and PDP leadership in good humour but like previous elections BJP now comes in support of UT demand to befool people.
Addressing the election rallies at Diskit in Nobra Valley and Zanskar Valley today, BJP leader and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said the demand for granting an exclusive Division status to the Ladakh region was conceded by the Narendra Modi Government during the Governor's rule and the demand for the UT status for Ladakh would also be followed up in the same spirit. He also highlighted that the demand to include the "Bothi" language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution had been taken up with his Ministry, Home department, before the election process began and assured that it will be followed up after the elections are over.
Important to note that veteran Buddhist leader and former Lok Sabha member Thupstan Chhewang had resigned as Member Parliament as well as primary membership of BJP after charging party leadership with cheating Ladakhis on the demand of UT. |
