PDD Sunderbani's open loot: Rs 300 for NoC
5/6/2019 10:48:17 PM

Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 6: The Power Development Department (PDD) Sunderbani of district Rajouri has been openly looting the people by charging Rs 300 for issuance of No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the customers.
Sources told Early Times that a clerk in the officer Sub Division PDD Sunderbani took Rs 300 from a customer for issuance of NoC who needs it for availing a home loan.
While narrating the incident, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Langer tehsil Sunderbani said the he visited the Sub Division Office for seeking NoC of electricity bill. But a clerk deployed there openly demanded Rs 300 for issuing the NoC.
"I objected to his illegal demand, but the clerk tried to convince me that Rs 300 is the fee for the NoC. Although I knew that there is no such fee charged for obtaining the NoC and contacted the concerned Junior Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer to lodge a complaint against the clerk, I was shocked to see their attitude. They also endorsed the demand of Rs 300 and said that it is a government fee for issuance of the NoC," he said, adding that he gave Rs 300 and asked for the receipt of the amount but the clerk declined to give the receipt.
When he raised his voice in the office against their open loot, the senior officers instructed the clerk to issue the NoC and return Rs 300 so that the issue could not aggravate further.
The local people of the area alleged that the PDD is involved in corruption from the top to the bottom and demanded action against the erring officials. They appealed the Governor SP Malik to issue directions to the senior officials of the department to initiate inquiry into the allegations of corruption.
