Lethargic JKPSC fails to conduct KAS Mains exams after 8 months
5/7/2019 12:20:00 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 6: The lackadaisical approach of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) could be gauged from the fact that after the lapse of over eight months since the conduct of preliminary examination; it has failed to conduct the mains examination.
The aspirants informed Early Times that for 71 posts of various posts, the preliminary examination was held and the result was declared in September 2018 and 1750 candidates qualified for the mains.
"The Mains examination was to be held in the month of February 2019 but despite repeated requests and representations from the aspirants, the JKPSC has failed to announce the schedule to conduct the Mains examination", an aspirant said.
He further informed that the Commission has been failed to announce the examinations on time adding more to the mess is the introduced digital evaluation in 2016, inviting unnecessary litigations in the court.
"Why the 1750 candidates have to suffer due to no fault of theirs. Earlier also the process of KAS 2014 was completed in year 2017 while the KAS 2016 is still hanging in balance due to new Supreme Court's stay", an official said, adding that the JKPSC has made it a routine to complete the process in three to four years.
The JKPSC should follow the footprints of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) which completed the process in scheduled time without any delay. "Why the JKPSC cannot complete the process on time and action must be taken against the officials involved for the lethargic approach", an official said.
Controller of Examination Dr. Shabir Keen said that the IAS preliminary examination was scheduled to be held on June 2nd and some of the aspirants had approached the Commission to conduct KAS Mains examination after IAS Preliminary examination to give them a few days for preparation. "Though it is not finally decided but tentatively the Mains examination will be held in July", Dr. Keen said.
