One month ago, BJP leaders were bragging about withdrawing security of 'undeserving persons'
After Mir's killing they are beating their chest, staging protests

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 6: Just one month ago, top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that they have withdrawn the security of 919 "undeserving persons" in Jammu and Kashmir.
Out of 919 "undeserving persons" only 22 were separatists, while others were workers of the mainstream political parties.
Now the BJP is beating its chest over the killing of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, party's vice-president for Anantnag district. Mir was killed by the militants inside his house two days ago.
Son of the slain leader has said that soon after Mir's security was withdrawn, his father approached SSP Anantnag and asked him to provide him with the security cover as he stays in militancy infested area. The SSP Anantnag, according to Mir's son, said that Police cannot provide him the security cover till he gets the letter from BJP's general secretary organisation, Ashok Kaul. But the Kaul just ignored the requests of the deceased leader and made him the "soft target."
Interestingly, Ashok Kaul, on Monday announced that he along with other BJP leaders would stage a protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar against withdrawal of security to the political workers.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "BJP leaders are staging a drama by raising hue and cry over the withdrawal of security. It seems they need to be reminded that it's their government which has withdrawn the security. Against whom they want
Hypocrisy!
o stage protest?"
He said, "It's unfortunate that the BJP government while withdrawing the security of the separatists clubbed the nationalist people in the same league and went ahead with its decision to put the lives of these people at stake."
A Kashmir watcher said, "The government withdrawing the security of the mainstream leaders in Kashmir even hampered the election campaign for Lok Sabha Polls. By withdrawing the security the government made political leaders vulnerable and made the task of militants easy. The leaders, who just few days ago, were bragging about saving security related expenditure have put the human lives at stake."
He said that BJP leaders like Ashok Kaul rather than staging protests to seek media attention should tell the people at the helm that nationalist people in Jammu and Kashmir need security and they should not be turned into canon-fodder for the militants. "Issuing condemnation statements is not enough. The government needs to revisit its decision about withdrawing security of the people, who are fighting the anti-national elements at the political and other fronts," the Kashmir watcher added.
He said that the killing of Mir has created a void as he was carrying forward the agenda of peace in one of the most volatile areas in south Kashmir. "Our heart goes out for his family. The BJP leaders should stop bragging and act fast before any other incident takes place," he said.
