Unidentified non-local beggars, vendors posing security threat to militancy infested Kishtwar

Jammu, May 6: The people living in Kishtwar District have shown great resentment towards encroachment of footpaths and road side parking places by the vendors including non locals.
As per the details available with Early Times, the shopkeepers all along the main Kishtwar road has encroached the footpaths while at the same time, major chunk of road from Bus Stand to Malipath Chowk Kishtwar has been encroached by the vehicle repair shops, car washers, Rehri wallas and tyre repair shops as a result of which the people traveling on this road are facing lot of inconvenience. Similarly the footpaths from Bus Stand towards Hospital Chowk Kishtwar has been encroached by the road side vendors including non locals.
Similar is the condition of interior areas of Kishtwar town including Gudhali Chowk, Chinar Gali, Tapal Gali, Jamia Masjid Market, old Bazar Kishtwar are the worest areas where majority of the footpaths has been encroached by the vendors and the shopkeepers.
Speaking to Early Times, the people said that both Municipality officials as well as Administration is responsible for the mess adding that Municipality officials are charging money from Rehriwalas and Farri Wallas and did not deposited the same into the account of Government added that only pea not amount collected from the vendors has been deposited into the Government treasury.
The people said that unidentified non local persons has encroached the foot paths in Jamia Masjid, Bus Stand and Gudhali Chowk area not only creating hurdle to the common people, but also threatening the law and order in communally sensitive Kishtwar town.
They said that the unidentified vendors along with some non local baggers are posing security threat to the common people as no one knows from where these non locals has come.
The people said that Municipality officials while charging them the money from them as fee even didn't bother to verify their identity.
The people also complaint about the encroachment of parking place outside old SDM Kishtwar quarter and urged upon the District Administration Kishtwar to look into the matter.
President Municipal Committee Kishtwar Raiz Ahmed Zarger accepted some lapses on part of the department while dealing with this sensitive issue at the time when Kishtwar witness the incident of Parihar brothers Killing as well as killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO. He assured that the matter will be looked into on top priority. DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana also assured to look into the matter.
