Hizbul Mujahideen warns people to 'not send children' to Army Goodwill Schools and to vote in polls
5/7/2019 11:13:59 AM

Srinagar: The militant organisation Hizbul Mujahideen has put up posters in Shopian in South Kashmir threating people to not vote and not send their children to Army Goodwill school.

According to the report, Hizbul Mujahideen has threatened parents to face consequences for sending their children to the Army schools.

In a number of posters put up across Karewa, Nadpora and villages in the vicinity in Shopian, the militant outfit also warned that those who 'vote' on polling day 'will be killed'. Despite the threat, Pulwama district witnessed 2.38 per cent voting.

The poster reads, “We have received information that the Army might force you to cast votes. But Kashmiri people must understand that they need to make a choice. Those who cast their votes on the polling day in Shopian will be killed.”

"You BJP Babu, have you build even one Ram Mandir in your tenure?" Mamata Banerjee hit back at PM

It further said, “Our commander Riyaz Naikoo has told you a number of times to desist from polls but some people do not listen. The time is over now and we will act against them and put their videos in public,"

The Army runs 43 Goodwill schools in far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir, three of which are affiliated to the CBSE. Close to 15,000 students are taught by 1000 staff members in these schools run under Operation Sadbhavna. The Army Goodwill Schools recorded 100 per cent pass result in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams, the results of which were announced on Monday.
