Police arrest accused in murder case

JAMMU, June 5: Police claimed to have arrested accused in murder case of Santosh Devi on Wednesday. As per details, a information was received at PS Akhnoor that one lady namely Santosh Devi wife of Vicky Kumar, age 26/27 Yrs resident of Samoti Samah, Tehsil Akhnoor was lying dead in pool of blood in her house.
On this information, Inquest proceedings U/S 174 CrPC was initiated and ASI Ashok Kumar along with Police Party was deputed on spot. FSL team and crime photographer was also called on spot and after fulfiling all legal formalities dead body was shifted to SDH Akhnoor. The post-mortem of said deceased was got conducted through a board of doctors and dead body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A team comprising of SDPO Akhnoor, Ajay Sharma, SHO Akhnoor - Sanjeev Gupta and ASI Ashok Kumar immediately started investigation in the matter. After examining evidence and taking statements of various witnesses, it came to light that persons namely Bittu Ram son of Bodh Raj and Nimo Devi wife of Dev Raj (Jeth and Jethani of Deceased) had murdered Santosh Devi with a sickle (Darat) during the night intervening 30/31 May, 2019 and had tried to make the murder scene look like a suicide.
On the basis of statement of witnesses and leads developed during investigation, FIR No.121/2019 U/S 302 RPC stands registered against the accused persons.
