On Eid, residents of Narwal Pain crave for water supply
6/5/2019 11:45:59 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 5: There seems no relief for the residents of Ward No. 2 Narwal Pain near Masjid even on the auspicious occasion of Eid festival on Wednesday as they had to fetch water from other areas for their daily use, thanks to the PHE department.
On Wednesday, the residents were seen carrying buckets full of water from other households at 11:30 am when the water supply was opened by the PHE. "We are feeling very hurt. Even on the Eid day we have been bringing water from other areas so that we could celebrate the festival without any hassle. It is very unfortunate that last one month remained very tough for us due to shortage of water as the water didn't reach our area," said Salim, Anwar, Sadiq and Latif, some of the local residents.
They said that as soon as the water supply began on Wednesday, the residents including children rushed out of their homes to collect water amid scorching heat.
"There is jubilation elsewhere on Eid, but we are concerned about availability of potable water which has become the major problem for us. Every day we remain thinking about the water crisis and pray to God for its early redressal," they said while narrating their ordeal.
The concerned Executive Engineer PHE Jammu City-II J P Singh, when contacted said that he has received complaints about the issue and accordingly he has directed his officers to visit the area, and "hopefully the problem will be solved at the earliest."
