BARAMULLA, June 14: Four newly recruited militants including two youths of south Kashmir have been arrested by security forces in Boniyar area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday.
A senior police official said that, based on credible intelligence reports about the movement of the newly recruited group which was on their way to exfiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) in Limber area of Uri sector in this north Kashmir district.
Soon after receiving information on late Thursday evening, a joint team of Army, 161 Territorial Army (TA) police and 53 Bn of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) laid a cordon in the area so that they could apprehend the youth without any damage or a bid of escape, the police official said.
Sources said that, four newly recruited youth got apprehended in the upper reaches of Limber, and it was all because there is a great decline of militancy in the state, and the youth might have been planned to cross the border to get arms training are to remain in safe heavens, but were apprehended before joining the militancy.
Limber area via Shahkote in Boniyar tehsil is close to the Line of Control (LoC) as the area gets connected with Braripora Muqam in Bijham Uri, and Rafiabad area of Baramulla district, sources told Early Times.
However a senior police official said that the recruited youth were identified as Adil Ahmad Dar (22) son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Hardu Hangir Yaripora Kulgam, Tahir Lone (19) son of Shamim Ahmad Lone of Kapren Shopian, Sameer Bhat (18) son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Seer Dari Sopore and Naveed Parra (19) son of Ghulam Nabi Parra R/O Tapper Pattan.
After formal questioning the youths were handed over to police for further investigations. There are reports that, Sameer was missing since June 10 and his family had also filed a report in police station Tarzoo. It is pertinent to mention that on May 30, two LeT militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Sopore town of Baramulla district, as the security forces had got inputs about militants and had launched CASO in Bunpora Dangerpora of Sopore.
While as two more militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Wadoora area of Sopore on June 11, taking toll to four militants that were killed in two separate encounter since May 30, in Baramulla district.
