SOG Jammu recovers huge quantity of banned drugs, 2 drug smugglers held

Jammu, June 20: Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police of Jammu district achieved a major success by recovering 8280 bottles of codeine phosphate @ Tuffrex, (Banned drug) concealed in 69 boxes carrying by two narco smugglers in a truck bearing registration No. JK13C -8225 in Rajbagh area of the district Kathua this evening.
The accused have been identified as Habibullah Peer son of Saifullah Peer (driver of the vehicle) and Parvez Ahmed (conductor ) son of Abdul Majeed both residents of Panzgam Pulwama. Reports said that sleuths of SOG Jammu led by SI Azad Manhas with a Police party of Police Station Rajbagh led by Inspr. Manjeet Singh laid a special Naka at Rajbagh and they intercepted a truck bearing registration No. JK13C -8225 which was on its way from Punjab towards Jammu. During the search of the vehicle cops recovered 8280 bottles of codeine phosphate @ Tuffrex, (Banned drug) concealed in 69 boxes kept in specially designed chambers inside the vehicle. Cops seized the vehicle and arrested the driver and conductor of the truck. Case to this effect under relevant sections stands registered at PS Rajbagh. The whole the exercise was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta- JKPS and was carried out under the supervision of ASP Kathua Ramnish Gupta -JKPS. It is pertinent to mention that since the last Six months SOG Jammu in its drive against drugs has so far recovered 1.65 kilograms of high-quality Heroin, 16.5 kilograms of Charas, 1781 kgs of Poppy Straw, 16,854 Nos. of Corex bottles and 39,174 Nos. of Psychotropic Capsules. The public at large has been requested to share any information about the movement of drugs with the Police and help Police in curbing this menace from society.
