Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 20: It seems that the government departments in the state are least bothered about the directions of the state government to ensure transparency as the departments here have miserably failed to maintain their official websites, thereby providing false information to the general public as well as causing hardships to them.
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) as well as the Floriculture department has failed to maintain its website since long. Peerzada Hafizullah who was transferred in February this year is still the corporation's commissioner.
The website https://smcsite.org is still showing Peerzada Hafizullah as its Commissioner. Not only the Commissioner, but many among the employees mentioned on website at different designation have been transferred but remain unchanged on the website.
Hafizullah was transferred on February 7 this year, but after elapsing four months, the SMC has failed to update the website. Interestingly, Tariq Ali Mir, the Commissioner posted after Hafizullah was also transferred recently but nobody in the SMC bothered to change the name of officers on website.
The officials in the corporation alleged not only the names but almost all the information available on website is decades old as it has not been changed since then.
A local resident said that he called on a number recently for some issue in his locality but the person whose number was shown on website was transferred a long ago due to which he faced immense hardships.
Nonetheless, Floriculture department has failed to maintain its official website since long. The website is providing false information to the general public. The website shows that Mathora Masoom is still the Director Floriculture department.
The administration in a reshuffle in February this year had transferred Masoom and had appointed Dr Abdul Hafiz Shah as Director Floriculture. However, the department has failed to make the changes on its official website.
Such non-seriousness by the government officials has come under severe criticism by the local residents here, alleging it to be a reason of immense hardships. Officials in the Floriculture department said that the other information besides designations shown on the website has not been changed since long.
The locals however said this depicts the non-seriousness of the department, adding that they are openly disobeying the government orders and such a proof is sufficient to claim that the works are being deliberately put to a halt in the departments, which has caused immense hardships to them.
