Drug peddlers arrested

Banihal, June 21: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Charas like substance substance from their poccession.
On a specific information, a special naka was laid at T chowk Banihal and checking and frisking was intensified. During the process of checking, three pedestrians comming from Railway Station Banihal towards Banihal town were signalled to stop but they tried to run away. The alert cops on naka chased and overpowered two of them and put to thorough checking. During search, charas was recoverd from their possession which was found to be one KG and hundred grams in weight.
On questioning they disclosed their identity as Parveez Ahmed son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh resident of Paristan Tehsil Ukharal Distt Ramban and Tawkeer Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Bhat resident of Senabati Tehsil Ukharal District Ramban and the third person namely Mushtaq Ahmed Kotach son of Ghulam Mohd Kotach resident of Ukharal District Ramban managed to flee from the spot, efforts for his arrest have been intensified.
Accordingly, case FIR NO. 84/2019 U/S 8/20 /29/NDPS Act has been registered at PS banihal and investigation taken up. During preliminary investigation the said accused disclosed that he had bought the consignment from Kashmir area and was meant for selling to youth of Ukharal/Banihal.
It is pertinent to mention here that in last one month , Banihal Police has arrested ten drug peddlers and huge quantity of Charas, Poppy Straw and some quantity of heroine (chitta) has been recovered.
The arrest and recovery has been made by a Police team headed by Insp Abid Hussain Bukhari SHO PS Banihal under the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar SDPO Banihal, Sanjay Parihar Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Anita Sharma SSP Ramban.
