International Yoga day observed across Jammu division

JAMMU, JUNE 21: As a part of 5th ‘International Yoga Day’, a series of yoga events were organized by various state and centre government departments besides social organizations and NGOs, here today.

The main event was organised at K.K Hakku Stadium Jammu by Department of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy (J&K) which witnessed wonderful participation from yoga practitioners, youth, students and elderly people.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma was the chief guest on the occasion.

State President BJP Ravinder Raina, Legislature Ramesh Arora, Ex-Minister Sat Sharma, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, senior officers of various departments, members of Arogya Bhartiya along with other dignitaries and participants performed different asanas of Yoga to commemorate International Yoga Day.

Div Com said that regular practice of yoga creates mental clarity and calmness, increases body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns, relaxes the mind and sharpens concentration.

AT POONCH: The event was organised by the Department of AYUSH, in coordination with department of District Youth services and Sports, Education and Food Supply department at Boys HSS Poonch.

District Development Commissioner, Rahul Yadav was the chief guest on the occasion.

DDC said that yoga has huge benefits for our body as well as mind and everyone should adopt it as a part of our daily routine.

At Kishtwar: the programme was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports Kishtwar in collaboration with Department of Indian System of Medicines at Chowgan Ground Kishtwar.

District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shakti Kumar Pathak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, ACD Anil Kumar Chandail, DYSSO Jaffer Haider, CEO, Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Nodal Officer Ayush Dr. Tariq Hussain, Nodal Officer ISM Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bhagat besides scores of people were present on the occasion.

At Kathua: Various educational institutions, Government departments, social organizations, NCC units today participated to celebrate the International Yoga Day with vigor and enthusiasm. Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with district administration and AYUSH observed “International Day of Yoga” at Sports Stadium Kathua.

Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appealed the people especially youth to adopt Yoga in their routine life as mental health is the basis of a strong physical health which is pre-requisite for peace and prosperity of a society.

A yoga camp was also organized “Art of Living” organization in Sub jail Hiranagar in which Superintendent Jail along with jail staff and jail inmates participated.

At Reasi: A yoga camp was organised at Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi in which Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib and various other district officers besides locals participated.

Another camp was organised at Sub Jail Reasi in which jail inmates as well as the staff participated.

At Rajouri: the Yoga Day was observed with this year theme “Climate Action” to raise awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga.

Main programme was organised at Dak Bungalow Rajouri where Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad was the chief guest.

DC interacted with the participants and highlighted the innumerable health benefits of performing yoga.

At Udhampur: A yoga camp was organized by District Administration in collaboration with Bharti Yog Peeth/ Patanjali Yog Peeth and Art of living at Subash Stadium today.

Additional District Development Commissioner Ashok Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.

At Samba: International Yoga Day was observed at Rajpura, Bari Brahmna and Ghagwal blocks of District Samba, in which senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.

At Doda: Yoga Day was celebrated at Doda and Bhaderwah respectively under the theme"Yoga for heart" in which DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode, besides sub-district/sectoral officers, officials of police department, students and people from different sections of society took part.

At Ramban: The programmes was organised by the Department of AYUSH in collaboration with the departments of School Education and Youth Services and Sports in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban where besides hundreds of students, several district officers including Chief Education Officer, Abdul Hamid Fani, District Nodal Officer, AYUSH, Dr.Masood Iqbal Zargar, EO, MC, Ravinder Sharma, DYSSO, Sukhdev Kumar, Senior lecturer, Ranjay Kumar participated.

Similarly, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, J&K, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, today observed 5th International Day of yoga at Central University Campus, Sunny Resorts, Sainik Colony in collaboration with Central University, Jammu.

Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu Ashok Aima was the Chief Guest on the occasion while State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Jammu & Kashmir Bikram Singh Gill presided over the function.

Among others MLC Vikaram Randhawa, former Director, IIMPA Prof. Indu Aima, State Yoga Commissioner Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, Registrar Central University Col. Ravi Kumar, Director Yoga Centre Dr. D.L. Choudhary, State Commissioner BS&G I.D. Soni, Joint Director YSS Madan Lal, Senior Journalist Suhail Kazmi, besides various prominent Personalities of Jammu and over 1500 Members of Youth Clubs, Mahila mandals affiliated to NYKS participated in the event.

Another event was organised by Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Northern Regional Campus Jammu in collaboration with Morning Walker’s Association, Ever Green Park, Channi Himmat wherein people from different shades of life took part in this programme.

Besides Regional Director, IIMC Jammu, Manohar Khajuria, faculty member Sanjit Khajuria and other staff members of IIMC also participated in the function.
