| Birth anniversary of Tara Smailpuri celebrated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: On birth anniversary of Sahitya Acedemy Awardee eminent Dogri poet & writer Tara Smailpuri, a web site e books Dogri library was launched and dedicated to writers ,poets, scholars and Dogri lovers and civil society . This idea was conceived by his grand daughter namely Samvedhna ,a Jammu university scholar and true follower of his poetry who compiled and put it to public domain for promotion of Dogri. She told that a last book of gazals written by his grandfather tara smailpuri is under process and likely to be published shortly.
Tara Smailpuri started writing work during his early age and attained maturity in expression also. He made solid contribution towards Dogri literature. He has been conferred many prestigious awards including Sahitya Akademi Award. Veteran Poet penned three collections of poetry and contributed for the preparation of first three volumes of Dogri dictionary and Dogri -Hindi Shabda Kosha as a co-editor. He compiled first ever books of Dogri idioms and phrases for readers. He also pointed towards natural facility of the poet in field of satire for which he was popular amongst the masses.
His poems in a subtle manner lampooned the age-old superstitions and hypocrisy, other orthodox institutions and practices that were stifling the dogra society. A man of matchless wit and humor at personal level he delighted the company wherever he was present. |
