Jammu, Jul 1: Criticising the role of successive MLAs either belongs to Congress or BJP have befool us over the development issue, resulting of it the entire Gandhinagar constituency except posh area of its constituency, remaining have been reeling under severe civic amenities, locals told Munish Gupta.
Munish Gupta who would be contesting assembly election from the Gandhi Nagar Constituency as independent candidate, on Monday conducted extensively door-to-door campaign in Preet Nagar, Sanjay Nagar's Extensional area as part of his mass contact programme.
As part of mass contact programme, the people of this locality narrated their miseries with Munish Gupta and asked him since the BJP's MLA Kavinder Gupta came to power by getting huge margin of votes from their constituency, our locality have been reeling under all basic civic facilities particular dilapidated road, lane and by lanes, chocked drains, erratic power cuts that plaguing the whole locality in large.
Baljeet Kour resident of Preet Nagar told Munsih Gupta that we were residing here from last 21 years but last two months we aren't getting PDS ration due to our names has been deleted from the list. However, getting ration is centrally sponsored scheme but our local dealer denied to us. In this regards , we making rounds of rounds of PDS office frequently but our pleas not fall into deaf ears.
Krishan Lal and Amandeep Singh told that the only 250 KV Transformer has been lying kaput from last two days, resulting we are reeling due to non availability of power supply. The PDD has installed a transformer which again gone kaput within two hours. "Two Month back, the MLA Kavinder Gupta came here and assured us your transformer would be upgraded upto 400 Kv but did nothing on ground level.
"In Sanjay Nagar's lane no 4,the drains are chocked, road and lanes are in dilapidated condition, streetlights lying fused and even electric poles have been not installed as per the requirement. Some residents raised bamboo poles to get electric connection, said Ravinder Kour.
A lane connects from Peer Baba to Sanjay Nagar lane No. 4 has turned dilapidated since last many times. The department concerned had laid down concrete material but still not blacktopped. "The streetlight have installed in our lanes have gone kaput and no dustbin installed in our lane resulting, all the resident dumping their garbage in front of my gate. The foul smell and stray dogs have made our life miserable but nobody come forward to resolve their miseries, even the sanitation employees denied to carry it by saying that garbage is dumping in the vacant plot, not in the lanes", Mohinder Kour.
The live wires are hanging in middle of lane which continuing posing threat to human life and in this regard we forwarded a plea to Chief Engineer PDD but only gave assurance which still not executed on ground level so far, said Thirth Singh.
Vijay Kumar, resident of Preet Nagar during interaction with Munish Gupta said that now-a-days, the drug peddler selling out drugs openly in our locality particularly in Preet Nagar and Roop Nagar. It also stated that students and youth of our locality were involved in the trade, some as traffickers and others as consumers. However, police is well aware about the growing drug menace but it has been failed to action against them despite residents frequently pleas.
