Early Times Report

Jammu, July 25: Kishtwar police on Thursday registered an open FIR against various media houses including some national TV channels for sensationalizing the news related to seizure of a Chinese drone flying over district jail Kishtwar with Pakistan.
The police registered an FIR No. 173/2019 U/S 505 RPC after Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar gave them approval. The police had though put the blame on a scribe for spreading the news in national media and sought the approval from District Magistrate Kishtwar for filing an FIR against him, after being summoned by the DC Kishtwar and the facts presented before the DC Kishtwar, it was established that some leading national news channels, both Hindi and English, had carried the news linking the incident with having Pakistan and reported that the drone hit the jail tower since high profile criminals and militants were lodged in the said jail premises.
Beside nation's top ranked news channels, leading web portals and other agencies also twisted the news according to their choice, and during the course of the investigation, sufficient proof of innocence of the scribe was presented before the District Magistrate Kishtwar who after perusal of the evidence put forth out rightly rejected the Kishtwar police claims and allegations against the scribe and instead directed the Kishtwar police to register an open FIR in this regard to further investigate into the matter.
The approval was accorded to Kishtwar police by District Magistrate Kishtwar Vide No. 874-75/DM/K Dated 8-7-2019.
"From the perusal of report and other facts submitted by the said journalist it establishes that news had already spread in the reputed national TV channels, daily newspapers and online web portals and it appears that singling out the name of a particular journalist must be avoided in this instant case," read the order which was also mentioned by the Kishtwar police in its FIR registered against various media houses of the country.
"Accordingly you are hereby authorized to register an open FIR in this regard and further investigate into the matter," read the order.
