Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 25: Even as the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra is attracting thousands of visitors to Kashmir, the urinal outside famous Mughal Garden in Nishat is overflowing mocking at the arrangements made by the administration.
A Yatri who happened to visit the Mughal Garden after performing darshan at the cave shrine said he was shocked to see the condition of the urinal.
"I was about the vomit while looking at the urinal," said the visitor.
Experts said the defunct urinal has become a breeding ground for insects and could cause ailments among the visitors.
"If anyone uses such a filthy urinal he or she is bound to develop infection," said a health expert.
It is pertinent to mention that the government has spent crores of rupees on the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan under which all such facilities had to be improved.
"This place is enough to show the government money has been looted," said an observer.
The official machinery on the other hand is in a blame game over who has to maintain the urinal. While the Srinagar Municipal Corporation lays the blame on the Lakes and Waterway Development Authority and the latter blames the administration in general and says that the Tourism department was also supposed to take note of such issues.
"Basically the Tourism department has not been taking proper care of facilities for the tourists and they are also responsible the mess. At least the tourism department could have spent a few thousand rupees on its repairs," said an official.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned couldn't be contacted for comments.
Meanwhile the travel and tourism players have appealed Governor SP Malik to look into the matter as otherwise the poor urinal facilities were bringing disrepute
