Doda, July 28: The heavy rain for two days has made the life of people of Doda villagers included Ablimasri, Gundna, Gadather and Malwana miserable.
Speaking to Early Times Correspondent Abid Wani, Local residents of the villagers said that the rain has damaged the roads, buildings, crops, fruits, livestocks which effected the normal life of residents. They further added that there is chance of more damage if rainfall does not stop because the mud and silt has filled the drains and in some places the level of water also increased continueously. The unscientific construction of drains and culverts followed by the negligence of PMGSY has created the flood like situation in the entire area.
Former expressed concern over tye damage to crops in the region due to relentless rain and winds in parts of Chenab Valley over the last two days. They said they are excepting a good harvest this time but the high rainfall damaged everything to a large extent. Not only farmers but even commuters residing in the region are also facing issues due to flood streets and roads as all the roads are waterlogged. There is a flood like situation here, several parts of Chenab Valley are deluged in water, making it more difficult for the school students and general public to move out their houses in hilly area.
The locals appealed to the concerned authorities to visit the area and to take a note of damages happened due to rainfall thereby to compensate the losses because their livelihood is primarily connected with agriculture and other allied activities.
