Early Times Report

Jammu, July 28: Chocked drains, dilapidated roads and lanes of Qasim Nagar near Bahu Fort has exposed the tall claims of successive former legislators about development of Gandhi Nagar constituency. The residents criticized previous MLAs for their failure to provide basic amenities due to which rainwater barged into their houses.
Abhishek, Varun, Sahil Kumar, Paramjeet, Mannu and others criticized the hollow slogans of former MLAs either of Congress or BJP overall development of the locality and basic civic amenities in particular.
They alleged that the former MLAs did not deliver a single promise.
Aggrieved residents said that they are fed up with the attitude of the MLAs along with the problem of dilapidated lanes and overflowing drains due to blockage arising out of waste material adding that several vacant plots in the locality has also turned into mini garbage dumping sites.
"The dustbin, which was installed by the concerned authority, was not lifted and now it is full of filthy garbage resulting the locals are being forced to dump their garbage near the dustbin or in the drain in the absence of collection of junk," they stated, adding that there is a severe problem of waterlogging due to chocked drains which need to be addressed as soon as possible.
They also said that in the area the sewerage line was laid four to five months ago, but surprisingly the concerned authorities didn't bother to blacktop the road to the convince of locals. The sewage line has become a headache for them as roads and lanes are in complete shambles condition.
Besides, a nallah near the locality has not been covered due to which foul smell emanates in the entire area.
They said that they met ex-MLAs and taken up problems being faced by the locals but he didn't pay any attention towards their issues.
