Tracking devices to be installed in MC Trash vans: DC Kathua

Kathua, July 28: To enhance monitoring over trash collection, District Administration has decided to equip all the vehicles available under Kathua Municipal Council with GPS tracking devices.
The trash vans, pick up trucks and tractor trolleys which are being used for collection of trash/garbage by the MC are 15 in numbers and all will be installed with Global Positioning System (GPS) devices to monitor real-time movement of garbage trucks from bins to the final point of delivery - the dumping yard, through its trackers placed in the vehicles, DC, Dr. Raghav Langer informed and added that the system is programmed such that no garbage collection point, en route, has been missed.
He also said that the tracking devices will help in increasing efficiency of operations and verify how many times the garbage is lifted from the collection point besides all the resources available with MC can be optimally used.
A mobile application and an online portal will also be developed alongside for real time tracking of these vehicles and the view screen can be placed in the office of MC and NIC at DC Office Complex, DC divulged and stated that an advertisement regarding tenders for installation of GPS devices has already been published by MC Kathua.
Regarding Professional Tax Collection drive, DC said that the drive has been started by the MC to register shops and establishments with in the limits of MC to charge due professional tax from the shop owners as per the provisions of J&K Municipal Act 2000.
During the scrutiny of records of MC`s Professional Tax receipts it was observed that even though there are more than 2500 shops/establishments operating in the limits of MC only 291 were paying Professional Tax, DC said and advised to all business establishments that due Professional Tax must be paid to the MC.
