Amritsar, July 30: The chief Orthopaedics Surgeon, Amandeep Group of Hospitals, Amritsar Dr Avatar Singh has become first Punjabi surgeon to achieve the landmark 500 robotic assisted knee replacement surgeries in one year, the statement issued on Monday said.
"This technique was new at the time of launching. The fear of unacceptability was there and many other factors were involved. But Dr Singh eventually proved that nothing is impossible. With hard work, dedication and planning, Dr Avtar Singh achieved a benchmark score of 500 robotic knee replacement surgeries in one year," it said.
A special function was organised here on Monday, wherein patients treated with this technique shared their experiences before and after robotic knee replacement surgery, it said.
Dr Avtar Singh, while sharing his feelings, said, "The target I took for myself, although seems very difficult, there is no impossible word in my dictionary. With dedication, planning, and teamwork, any set target can be achieved.
We started with zero and achieved 500 robotic knee replacement surgeries in a single year.
This proves that people have accepted this technology over other conventional methods available in the market. Reason behind this is the benefits of robotic technology."
He added, "People these days are tech-savvy and before going for any surgery, particularly elective surgery, they tend to go for research on the methodologies available worldwide and then wisely choose the best technology. Patients and their attendants are very learned these days. No one can befool them with so-called self-devised technologies, which do not have any base or proven track record worldwide."
