KUPWARA, July 30: India and Pakistan armies on Tuesday afternoon trade shelling along LoC in Tanghdar sector of this north Kashmir district, while as Indian army has given befitting reply to Pakistani rangers from Mohra side of Uri sector.
Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked firing on the forward Indian posts in Tanghdar sector near Jaal complex at around 01:30 pm today, said a senior police official in Kupwara district.
He said that, Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector around 01:30 pm today.
There was unprovoked firings from the other side of LoC, while as our soldiers are routinely manning the fence along the LoC, the police official said.
Due to artillery firing in the area, the people went for security cover as few shells were landed into paddy field in Tangdar area, and with the result there was fear psychosis among the general public, local resident of Tangdhar told early times over the phone.
The intermittent exchange of shelling was going on from both the sides in Tangdar sector; and one civilian got splinter injures and was according shifted to nearby hospital, while as the Indian soldiers retaliated to the aggression from across the LoC effectively, said sources.
Sources said that, the schools and other establishment were closed in Tangdar sector after there was an exchange of firing between the two armies.
However sources said that Indian army exchanged fire in Mohra Uri, they were giving befitting reply to the Pakistani rangers, and where as people in the upper hills have been told not to venture out today evening.
As per reports locals of Mohra and Gingal area have moved towards the safer place, as there was heavy shelling and firing between two sides, the police control room has been alerted incase evacuation is required.
Meanwhile there are reports that, two militants were killed today in an encounter at Baktur area of Gurez near Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
Reports said that a fierce gunfight broke out between militants and soldiers of 36 RR along the LoC at Nowshera Nar area of Baktur in Gurez sector today evening.
The alert troops foiled the infiltration bid in the area, and gunned down two militants, said reports.
The operation was on in the area till the last reports came in.
