Farooq to meet PM Modi today

NEW DELHI, July 31: MP and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss what the Centre intends to do with Article 35 A and Article 370 of the Constitution.
"I am meeting the prime minister tomorrow at 12.40 pm, along with two other MPs of the NC,'' Farooq told. "Let's pray everything turns out good. We need prayers of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.''
Farooq had sought a meeting with Modi after panic gripped Kashmir over rumours that the BJP government plans to scrap Article 35 A that bars outsiders from settling in Jammu and Kashmir, after August 15.
A slew of government orders asking security forces to stock food, water and riot fighting weapons for four months have sparked fear across Kashmir and parts of Jammu.
In one order, the police directed its zonal superintends to collect information about the mosques in Srinagar and keep a satellite phone and bulldozer in the police station. The police were also directed to collect information about fuel stations and storage capacity in the city.
The orders that were circulated on social media have sparked fears that the Centre is planning to strike down Article 35 A and Article 370 of the Constitution after August 15 when the annual Amarnath Yatra comes to an end. Article 370 guarantees special status to the state.
