Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 2: In an unprecedented late night development, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti called on the Governor Satya Pal Malik along with some other mainstream leaders.
Mehbooba who addressed a press conference at her residence walked to the residence of National Conference President and Member of Parliament, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and talked with him regarding the developments that took place today. She later on went to the residence of Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone and interacted with him as well.
After meeting Lone the PDP President along with the Peoples Conference Chairman and Peoples Movement President Dr. Shah Faesal went to the residence of Governor and conveyed their concern to him. The mainstream leaders told the Governor that if everything is fine then why did the government issue an order asking the Amarnath Yatris and tourists to leave the Kashmir valley at the earliest.
Addressing the press conference, Mehbooba said that the advisory issued by the government has created chaos and confusion. She said that fear has engulfed the people of Kashmir following the advisory asking the yatris and tourists to leave Kashmir as soon as possible.
"One one side Governor Sahib says that everything is normal and on the other side deployment of more forces is made. At the same time advisory is issued to the yatris and tourists and they are being asked to leave the valley," said Mehbooba. She said Kashmir has a perfect place for rumour mongering and different rumours are doing rounds.
As soon as the PDP President completed the press conference she was stopped by the security personnel at the gate of her residence as she tried to move out. The security people tried to stop her but after she managed to move out. Mehbooba told the security people that she is going to the residence of NC President and she should not be stopped.
The PDP President later on reached the residence of Abdullah and had a meeting with him that lasted for 15 minutes. She later on reached the residence of Lone from where she went to the Raj Bhawan in order to meet the Governor and apprise him of the concerns raised by her and other mainstream leaders.
It has been learnt from sources that the NC President did not join Mehbooba to go to Raj Bhawan since he was not feeling well. As NC Vice President Omar Abdullah was not in the town the PDP President went to the Raj Bhawan without any leader from NC and Congress. It is not clear as what transpired between Mehbooba and Farooq.
