Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 10: Scores of Gujjar-Bakerwal community members celebrated "Jashne-Azadi", while dancing and distributing sweets in the presence of party State President Ravinder Raina near Bharatiya Janata Party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar.
BJP State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, former Minister Abdul Ghani kohli, party state Spokesperson & former MLA R.S.Pathania were also present, while the Gujjar-Bakkarwal community members led by BJP ST Morcha State President Choudhary Haroon celebrated the scrapping of Article 370.
Gujjar-Bakerwal claimed that they have been liberated from the clutches of slavery after decades of servitude. They said that the shackles have been shattered and they are now feeling happy to breathe in the new refreshed air. They claimed that they have been liberated after 70 years. Now dozen seats have been reserved in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly by the new legislation giving us voice in the Assembly. They said that earlier, Forest Right act was enforced in whole of India except J&K due to Article 370, but now everything is fine and, here we are, celebrating our victory.
Community members said they have been duped in the past by 3 families namely Abdullahs, Muftis and Nehrus for their own benefits for decades together and added that they are thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the bold move that has opened up gates of development and progress for the community.
Ravinder Raina, while speaking on the occasion, said that this is the true embracement of spirit of unity. He said that we all are humans first and this historic decision is for the benefit of every community, every region and every religion. He praised the community members for their energetic celebration for the passage of the bill. He said that this decision has given the community their Political Rights. Till now NC, Congress, PDP only used the community for their voting rights but never really gave any thought for their development or giving them their due rights.
Ajay Pargal, Choudhary Tahir, Mukhtiar Choudhary, Hassan Sardar, Choudhary Bag Hussain, Mohd. Akhtar, Megh Mohd. and others were amongst the prominent members from the Gujjar-Bakerwal community from various regions, present on the occasion.
