Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 10: The Trauma Centre-cum-Primary Health Centre (PHC) Mahanpur is virtually on ventilators as the doctors posted there have been going there for once in a week but get the attendance of entire week but the authorities have unbothered about the matter.
According to sources, six doctors were posted at the PHC cum trauma centre but most of the doctors have been visiting the hospital for merely one day and remained absent for entire week but getting full attendance and salaries. "Even the doctors who have not been entitled to do night duties are doing the same with active collusion of the authorities and remaining absent for whole of the week", sources said, adding that though during a recent visit of Chief Medical Officer as well as Additional Deputy Commissioner, it was directed to done away with the roaster system but it has been still in vogue.
"The authorities had directed the doctors to perform eight hours' duty but there will be no roaster system and all three doctors will have to present in the hospital everyday for different timings. But to utter disregard to the dictat, the doctors have been continuing with their past practice as per their sweet will", sources claimed, adding that at one hand there was no biometric attendance system while on the other hand the register pages were kept open by the staff for days together and same were marked after the employee visit the office.
Sources further claimed that some paramedical staff as well as other staff hailed from the local area. "Two staff members have their shops at Mahanpur main bazaar and they left the hospital during duty hours and gave their services at their shops", sources said, adding that these local staff members have not transferred from the area for years together and have been managing all the affairs.
The lower rung staff has become so powerful that they have been dictating the terms to the senior most doctors as well as other staff and anyone who would create hurdles in their illegal acts, same was harassed by one or the other way, alleged the sources.
When tried to contact Director Health Services Jammu, Samir Matoo as well as Chief Medical Officer Kathua, Ashok Choudhary, they didn't pick up their phones despite repeated attempts.
