Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 26: As the internet services are under suspension in entire Jammu and Kashmir following the scraping of Article 370 and 35 A of the constitution, the people find different ways to get the access to internet broadband on "Wi-Fi" with the help of the latest series of android softwares available in the mobile "Play Store" that can help the individual mobile users to bypass the "Password" of the broadband modem-thus put the internet security to vulnerability and threat thus putting the onus on the government to look into the matter by blocking access to such software that can pose security threat in the militancy hit Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the mobile calling and Internet services are under suspension since last three weeks in Jammu and Kashmir while some landline phones were restored in the valley without broadband, in Jammu Division however the landline and Broadband internet services almost goes uninterrupted, but like in Kashmir valley, the mobile services and mobile internet services are still under suspension in Chenab valley while at the same time only mobile calling is active in five Districts of Jammu Division viz Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua and Reasi as a result of which internet user are looking for alternative for access to internet and the latest technology are helping them in this as several mobile software are available openly that can help them to break the broadband password without the knowledge of the connection holders and thus same could be put the security system in the tizzy and same could be used by the anti national elements to fuel the unrest.
A shopkeeper in Kishtwar District told the "Early Times" that he was surprised to see that his internet broadband data limit exhausted in no time and was later shocked to find that nearly 40 mobile phones are connected to his Wi-Fi despite the fact that he has not shared his password to anyone. He said that even though he changes the password frequently, but nothing goes into his way added that it was only after he came to know about the real reason through his software engineer friend about all these software who can bypass the "Wi-Fi" broadband passwords. He said that he was also surprised to see several people including security personals, young students, children's and many people standing outside his shop for hours.
A software engineer told the "Early Times" that low range broadband modem are vulnerable to password security added that the only solution to the problem is that broadband user should use high security Wi-Fi modem which are safe and secure in terms of password security breach.
He said that the shopkeepers must put the modem off in case as and when the internet is not in use.
Another youth told the "Early Times" that some software can also help a mobile user to bypass the VPN setting of a system where social media sites like Facebook, twitter are blocked by the Admin along with Whatsapp can be directly accessed to bypass the VPN security.
Beside shops, several people are also seen standing outside government offices to get the Wi-Fi access through these mobile software. After surfacing of this development, the senior officials took some preventive measures and directed its subordinate staff to put the modem on "Off" mode while closing the offices.
