Transfers of 600 teachers of Jammu district expose rampant corruption in School Education Deptt
Influential teachers serving only within city limits since joining service

Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 26: Even as Director School Education has kept in abeyance transfer orders of 600 teachers of Jammu district 'issued' by Chief Education Officer (CEO) but these wholesale transfers have exposed on-going rampant corruption and nepotism in the School Education Department.
It was only after hue and cry by many deserving teachers that the order was kept in abeyance but authorities have yet not announced an inquiry to identify the teachers who have been serving only within city limit since after joining the School Education Department.
First time in the history of School Education Department, 600 teachers of Jammu district were transferred with one stoke in an order which was issued on late Friday evening.
While as large number of females, handicapped and ailing teachers, who do not have any approach, were transferred in the remotest and far-flung areas, influential teachers were transferred from one city school to another as these teachers have influence in the administration.
Ironically teachers of city schools having zero percent results in this year's matriculation examinations were given prized postings in other city school so that they can "spoil" career of students of another city schools.
Most of the teachers appointed in city schools belong to influential families and they have never given results above 25 percent. And these teachers have been serving within limit of Jammu Municipal Corporation during their tenure of service. And most important many of these influential teachers after getting postings in city schools, are availing Child Care Leave (CCL) but many genuine cases of CCL have been denied as these teachers do not have approach.
Meanwhile a delegation comprising of hundreds of teachers who are victimised by higher authorities sitting at the helm of affairs called on Governor Farooq Khan under the leadership of Goldy Walia and express their grave concern regarding the illogical transfer orders of teachers of district Jammu issued by the CEO Jammu.
"In this transfer list hundreds of teachers including females, handicapped, ailings and also those who are at the verge of retirement are badly hit and transferred to the far areas approximately upto 70 to 90 kms distance and also large chunk of RRET's, are favoured and transferred to their nearby choice posts by violating transfer norms of RET's", handout issued by teachers mentioned.
It is astonishing that hundreds of blue eyed and their kith and kins have been favoured and transferred within a distance of zero to 1km within the vicinity of Jammu City by adopting the corrupt and unfair practice or the reasons best known to the concerned authorities.
Delegation appealed to the higher authorities to hold a through enquiry into bungling made in the transfer orders and express their hope to book the culprits who task in order to set the things right in the Education Department.
