Polytechnic college students visit cement factory

Jammu, Nov 6: A one day industrial visit to Meher Cement Factory, Kangrail near Dehyaran was conducted for the students of Civil Engineering Department of IECS Polytechnic, Purkhoo Camp Jammu.
G.H. SUFI, General Manager, Meher Cement explained the line diagrams of various processes of manufacturing of cement which includes steps and procedures followed right from limestone crushing to final disposal of cement and had interaction session with the students where he answered various questions raised by the students.
After visiting the cement factory students visited a Brick Kiln at Mishriwalla. Students were taken to raw brick moulding area to apprise them about the composition and different types of moulding techniques.
They were also taken to the main kiln area where also the stacking of raw bricks, ignition process and removal techniques were explained to them. The students were accompanied by Er. Gurbachan Singh, HOD Civil Engg. Deptt and Er. Mohit Sharma, Lecturer, Civil Engg. Deptt.
Er. Amit Sharma, Principal IECS Polytechnic appreciated the efforts of training and placement cell for conducting these kinds of industrial visits, Er. Ajay Singh Jamwal, Dean Administration asserted that it is an Endeavour of the institution to develop acumen among the polytechnic students to bridge the gap between theoretical technical knowledge and practical insight and making them more compatible with today's industrial requirements which will eventually make them employable.
