Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 6: It seems very shocking that Government Medical College Rajouri, which has been set up just few years ago but the CT scan in the hospital, has been lying defunct for the last two years due to which patients have been suffering a lot and were forced to get CT scan done from private diagnostic centers.
Sources told Early Times that the Rajouri being hilly district, is an accident prone area where numbers of cases of accidents are reported on daily basis, who are untaken for treatment at GMC Rajouri but the important machine like CT scan is not functional there and lying defunct due to which patients have to get it done from private centers by paying huge amount. Moreover the GMC Rajouri also cater many parts of Reasi district which made it more important health center.
They alleged that CT scan was set up in GMC Rajouri two years ago but after few months of its working, it went out of order and could not be repaired till date. "Due to laxity on the part of GMC Rajouri Administration, the private diagnostic centers have been minting money which indicates some involvement between hospital authority and private players who are fleecing poor people by charging Rs 4000-5000 per scan," they said.
They further informed that on being asked to the concerned Medical Superintend about the defunct CT Scan and the reason for delay for the its repair, he said that he had taken up the matter with higher authority and soon machine will be repaired.
