Mehta stresses on timely completion of ongoing projects

JAMMU, Nov 6: Financial Commissioner Finance, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, today asked the executing agencies for time bound completion of ongoing development projects during a review meeting held here to take stock of progress on execution of different development projects across J&K.
The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Atul Dulloo, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Culture and Technical Education, Zubair Ahmad, Secretary Higher Education Talet Parvez and other senior officers of these departments while representatives from the executing agencies like JKPCC, R&B, PHE, Housing Board and Police Housing Corporation were also present.
Mehta took stock of progress on several prominent development projects coming up across J&K. He instructed the executing agencies to strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines for construction works. He was informed that various projects are expected to be completed soon.
He asked the executing agencies to ensure completion of projects as per the original estimates and avoid any undue cost escalation or delays in handing them over to the indenting departments. He asked the officers to deal with delays strictly as per provisions of the contract and initiate action wherever necessary.
Mehta stressed on the officials to ensure regular field visits to monitor the quality of works being undertaken under different development projects. He said that obstacles, if any, faced by the executing agencies should be instantly removed by taking them up with the local administration.
