JAMMU, Nov 24: A "tout", who claims to be a self-style service provider at Deputy Commissioner Office Kathua's premises, has become the talk of town for being a major felicitator of various works before the general public visiting the office for doing different government works
Sources informed Early Times that for the last few years, the "tout" who has been earning fortunes, has won notoriety among the government employees posted at Deputy Commissioner Office Kathua while he has also become famous among the common masses within the premises of the DC office Kathua, claiming himself to be a felicitator for different types of works, being done at various offices of different departments.
Attired in typical suit-boot with an aim to present himself as a senior bureaucrat, the "tout" could be seen visiting the premises of DC office regularly, sharing the chairs, close to the gazetted bureaucrats, to give an impression to the public that he has strong links with the bureaucrats and could do any work.
"He used to befool masses by offering a variety of services such as getting any type of licences renewed or to get various documents on the pretext of huge money", employees informed adding that he has been running a nexus involving over half a dozen people, who have been acting as his agents to forward customers to him, to get the works done and commissions have been fixed for each type of works.
Sources further informed that the "tout" has become so rich in past few years that he has amassed huge property by different means. The property accumulated by him is disproportionate to his known sources of income and he has become so powerful that he didn't even spare the employees of various government departments from admonishing them for one reason or the other. "Many government employees are of the impression that he is a government employee and they dared to speak again him but as per government records, he is not a government employee or from any government agency but has been regularly visiting the DC office' premises", sources said.
