Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 3: In a major success against terror outfits in Kishtwar District, Police along with 17 RR & troops of 52 CRPF apprehended one Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant who went missing on November 14, 2019 along with 303 Rifle, one Magazine, 64 live cartridges and 11 charger clips from Ikhala Plamar.
The militant held has been identified as Tariq Hussain Wani, son of Mohammad Amin Wani of Wani Mohalla Sounder Dachhan,.
As per the details available with Early Times, a cordon was laid in the general area of Ikhala forest some 65 kms away from Kishtwar by the joint parties late last night and during the search of the area the HM militant was arrested from a temporary hideout along with arms and ammunition. The militant had received a gunshot in his left foot from his own loaded weapon while trying to escape from the spot. He was immediately rushed to the District Hospital Kishtwar for treatment.
When contacted, SSP Kishtwar, Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta confirmed the apprehension of the Hizbul Militant to Early Times adding that the investigation has been set into motion to further ascertain his links and the source of the weapon in possession of the arrested militant. He also complimented the troops involved in successful operation that led to arrest of the Hizbul militant.
A case FIR No. 268/2019 stands registered in P/S Kishtwar under section 7/25 IA Act, 18,20,23,38,39/ULA in this regard.
Meanwhile the sources told the "Early Times" that the weapon recovered from the possession of the apprehended militant Tariq Hussain Wani was sold to him by a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member identified by the sources as Devi Dass, who has been detained by the Kishtwar police for questioning following the sensational disclosure that emerged during the course of the investigation. Devi Dass, according to the sources was a part of the operation team that busted terror hideout in Dachhan area few years ago and hid some weapons from a recovery made from the terror hideout which was later sold to Tariq Hussain Wani.
The sources said that it is being further ascertained to know that who funded the purchase of the weapon from the VDC member and how much amount was paid to him in exchange of the weapon deal. It is pertinent to mention here that the Kishtwar police in July 2018 had given clean chit to Wani in the alleged terror recruitment case and released him from custody on July 14, 2018 after obtaining the personal bond for appearance.
