H&ME Deptt fails to fill vacant posts in GMC&H, Associated Hospitals
62 posts of faculty out of 82 vacant in SSH

JAMMU, Dec 21: The posts for various specializations in the Government Medical College and Hospital and its associated hospitals have been deliberated lying vacant since their inceptions due to the lackadaisical approach of the senior authority of the Health and Medical Education Department which has been hampering the functioning of the said hospitals.
It is in the place to mention here that once side the higher authority of the concerned the department is opening new medical colleges in the Jammu and Kashmir for overcome the overcrowded and with the aim to provide better healthcare facilities to the patients but another hand side the existing big hospitals have been struggling for survival.
As per officials, out of 310 posts of faculty in GMC&H Jammu, only 211 posts have been filled so far and 99 remaining unfulfilled. As far as the concern of the Super Specialty Hospital-which was established on the analogy AIIMS like institute--- has only 20 posts of faculty have been fulfilled out of 82 which is raised many fingers about the intention of the concerned authority.
Officials also claimed that there are 4469 posts of non-gazetted employees out of which 2947 posts have been filled and 1522 have been kept vacant for last many years which is not only hampering the functioning of the hospitals but also gaining more notoriety.
Taking about the existing condition of the GMC&H and its associated hospitals, officials said that the seriousness of the concerned authority could be gauged from the fact that last over 40 years the condition of the government hospitals have not been improved then how the condition of the new medical colleges would get better.
Financial Commissioner, H&ME Department Atal Dulloo said that the posts in the GMC&H and its associated hospitals were not filled due to various litigations but also claimed that almost posts were filled.
